Une mystérieuse magistrature : les tribuns militaires à pouvoir consulaire
Si l’histoire du conflit des ordres et de la mise en place du régime républicain classique a fait l’objet de nombreux travaux et de considérables avancées depuis la fin des années 1990, une magistrature est restée à l’écart de ces changements historiographiques en raison des difficultés qu’elle soulève. Cette séance se propose donc de revenir sur l’origine et la nature de la fonction de tribun militaires à pouvoir consulaire, afin de montrer comment elle peut, peut-être, s’intégrer à l’histoire de la Rome alto-républicaine.

Libri Aristotelis legantur : The Rise of the University and the Impact of Aristotle’s Philosophy in the West
A widely held view conjures up all demons of error and evil through a perfidious combination of two main vices : the “Middle Ages” and “Aristotelianism”. Only a few know that during this time, universities emerged and evolved into our most common working environments. In my lecture, I would like to offer a general description of the philosophical background behind universities and emphasize the decisive role that Aristotle’s philosophy played. The study of his texts is the result of a long process of struggle, at the end of which the West replaced many principles of the old Christian Wisdom with a new worldview based on one main conviction: Change is a reality that instead of negating or undervaluing, we should simply accept and learn to deal with at both theoretical and social levels.
